Yearly - Events reminder App Reviews

I like, but...

I like this application, mostly for its design and ease of use. You can only really find quality-designed apps like this on iOS. The app does what it says and isnt too difficult to understand. I use a Mac and am really good about keeping my Address Book contacts in order with birthday data, so this app just automatically worked for me. If you arent tidy or organized with your contact/address book data as I am, then this app just isnt for you and you wont like it as is obvious with other reviews. The only beef I have with Yearly is that its messing with the notification badges of other apps. I keep Yearly in a grouped folder with other apps (iPhone 4, iOS 5.0), and it seems to really disrupt with the badge notifications of other apps in the folder. For example, my 2do agenda app will show that I have 2 notifications, but both the app icon and folder group that contains both of these apps will only list a "1" notification badge. If I remove Yearly from the folder, the folder badge will then display the correct badge number - "2" notifications. When I restore Yearly back into the folder, it will go back to the "1" badge. Clearly Yearly isnt playing nice with the other apps in the folder. Please fix.

Clean and Effective

This app succeeds in doing exactly what it says it does, it provides a way to view upcoming birthdays and be notified when a birthday is approaching or has been reached. Not only does it do this very well, but it does so with a beautiful and elegant interface. I disagree with the other reviewers that this app needs a way to manipulate birthdates - you already have two apps on your phone that can do that - Phone and Contacts, why create a third?

Very Well Executed

Personally, I love that Yearly is just a simple interface to view the information that is in your contacts already. Id be disappointed to see them include a feature to add people within the app. I dont think the app was meant to be birthday manager but rather a better display of information you already have recorded. The app is beautiful. There are a lot of custom interface elements but, to me, it doesnt feel over done at all. Since its just pulling data that is already loaded on your phone, the app loads fast, which is great because Im usually just glancing to see whos birthday is coming up. Im thrilled that they included anniversaries in the list because that has never been an option in iCal or the Calendar app on iOS. For 99¢ it is a no-brainer.

Good Piece of the Puzzle

I combined this app with the SmartSync app and really like the outcome. I wish this app did it all, but maybe someday. Still useful to have the push notifications.

Facebook Sync?

Wheres Facebook Sync?

Needs Manual Add Contact Feature

good app - clean and fun interface, efficient - but lacks manual add contact feature. there are anniversaries and birthdays of people I want to keep track of but are not necessarily on my Contacts app - i.e. children, pets, deceased loved ones. they dont have contact info so I dont understand why I should be limited to only Contacts imports. please resolve this issue on a later update and Ill give the 5 stars this app deserves. Thanks.

Very useful!

Love the app! Glad I found it. Great to keep in touch with clients and friends

Great app

Just what I was looking for!! I love it!! One thing, though, that would be great would be to see is the ADDRESS in the contact detail. This way when Im at the post office sending many cards/packages for the month, I dont have to search through my contacts for each person to find the address Im mailing to. To have that info in your great display at my fingertips would be a great time saver. Its a great app and would get 5 stars if it had that!!!

Fail

What the? I open the app and it wants me to do all the work in my contact list? I was hoping this was gonna be a sweet UI to save birthdays in the actual app! Not just a list of stuff I enter somewhere else. Not worth 99 cents.

Not worth it!

SO not worth it! It just save your Facebook contacts birthday which, by the way, Facebook does it for free. Ive sent an e-mail saying that I wanted to remember my friends and family b-days, not of every single person I have on FB and asked if theyll update anytime soon... Didnt had any response. If I could vote "0" star, I would.

Love it!

Update March 2013: badge issue has been fixed and app work perfectly. :) Updated Nov 2012: after updating to latest OS on my iPhone 5 it stopped displaying badge icon. Hence the 2 star. Love the clean interface, shows contact birthday with simple glance with date, day and h-sign. Would like the option to be able to add birthdays manually. Like someone who does not have a phone number. Anyway got round it by creating a contact without a phone number.

No iPad ?

No iPad app ??? Need this for iPad also.

Not very intuitive

Theres no clear way to add new people and their birthdays. This app basically just pulls in date info from set databases. Still a very nice looking and functioning app.

A Must-Have App

A must-have app to remind us of important birthday and anniversary dates. My only wish is they would make this universal so it would display well on iPads in landscape mode.

Great update!

Most people have thrown their Notification Center widgets together haphazardly, but Yearly has done it right. A+ update!

Awesome App!!

Hey thanks so much for this app. I just found it, bought it, and I love it!!!

ONLY for Organized People

This app is great. If you are one who carefully records information in your contacts, then this app is for you. Just be sure to add dates (as many as you want) appropriately to each contact. That can be a Birthday, Anniversary or anything else you choose. If the dates are in your contact for an individual, they will automatically be listed in Yearly. In a sense, Yearly is an app that is solely used to present these dates to you in chronological order. So with this app, you’ll see what’s coming up for everyone in your contacts. I don’t need to add info via this app. If I’m need to add someone, I go to contacts and do that. I’m hyper organized about my contacts. If you are too, then get this app and enjoy this new presentation layer!

App Doesnt Send Notifications

Update to my January 4, 2016 post - today is March 31, 2016 and the notifications still do not work. Also, now after 5 months and multiple attempts for assistance, still nobody has replied to the support ticket sent (or these reviews). -------- While it isnt optimal that this app only works if you have dates in your contacts (without the ability to manually enter dates of individuals not in your contacts), I went ahead and did so because I still thought the concept of the app was good. However, once I took a ton of time to do so, I then learned quickly that the communications in the app did not work. Since I receive no email, text, or any type of notification of any events, I have to manually check on a daily basis if I dont want to forget an event. While I am hoping there is some type of a fix for this, I have attempted to contact the app developer on three separate occasions over the past two months and have never received a response. If the communications worked I would be happy with the app but - without it working and without anyone contacting me - it is pretty much worthless. A little customer service would be nice!
